From the start to register any wedsite, we should know our privacy will be encroach. But we have a choice to fill in the truth of information. When i was resgisted Facebook, i write a wrong date of birth to protect my privacy. My friends knew my date of birth from the Facebook but accually the date is wrong. Even i explain many times on Facebook status but i still received many benediction on that date. It shows me know how powerful Facebook is.
Would you still stay on Facebook after knowing this?
Most of friends are using Facebook, I need to connect with them and get some information from there.There will be depends how they care their privacy but for me I think I not worry about my privacy problem as long as my birthday's date still wrong.

yes, provide fake information is also one of the way to protect ourself from any harmful purpose as mentioned by TC. Many of the internet user create an account in any social network website by using their so called 'net-name' which they personally create a fake name that represent them. We will just provide the correct information for any documentation and personal purpose.

It's up to you whether you want to give the real information online. Via privacy setting, you can restrain your information to be seen by anonymous. So, whether you are giving real or false information isn't a big deal.
