It is an act
to amend the Evidence Act 1950. This law can used to sue anyone which involve
or incite, defamation, and insulting. Defamation can be checked via personal
user ID, electronic device and wireless detection. If spread any news which is
not obeying to the law, ACT 114A can assume that you involve in crime, except
you can debate it with providing evidence. All in all, before you can prove
that you are being blamed, you are still under suspect.
How does ACT114A affect you?
ACT114A did affect me
badly. Every moment I post something or share anything in internet. I afraid
that I would being accused. This cause me got no freedom of share my thought or
feeling. For example, for current news and related news is almost related to
politic. I afraid that I giving supporting to my supported party or giving any
opinion toward another party will be involve in the ACT114A.
Does it really
matter?
Yes, it does really matter
for government to concern about it. According to the ACT114A, anyone can be
charged if involve or incite, defamation, and insulting. What if my
internet being use by people or they did hack my account like Facebook’s
account. The hacker post something illegal or insulting in anyone for example
some of the party of politics. Then it is hard for me to find or prove who had
hacked my account. People can easier blame anyone by using such way and even create
a fake incident then blame to anyone. Hence, this law should be change in order
to use it.
Should you be
concerned?
Definitely, I
need to be concerned because facebook/twitter is one of the social networks
which I will use always. Posting status on facebook/twitter is one of my ways
for releasing tension. I shall be more aware for my word because who know
someone thought I am insulting them and sue me at the end.
True, if just a simple status that will bring your whole life in the jail. As a student, some of our friend might forget to log out in the computer lab, then someone might use your account to do some legal thing on the internet. Is so unsafe nowadays.
ReplyDeleteya, not only in computer lab. It might also happen in friend smart phone, laptop and other electronic device. As you said it is so unsafe nowadays, I don't even dare to post anything related of politic now.
DeleteI agree wat Poh Yeng say,so if a ignorance friend is posting a negative comment, his whole life will be destory by the small comment. I don't think it's a good idea.
ReplyDeleteYa, it is so unfair if really destroyed by the little comment. Maybe people just wan to voice out his/her opinion but who know ruin the life at the end. Wondering is there still freedom of sharing nowadays.
